SCGA Amateur Championship – Qualifying Information
The Palmetto State’s finest amateur golfers square off in their annual youth-vs.-experience battle in the South Carolina Golf Association’s 86thAnnual Amateur Championship on August 3-6, 2017 at Florence Country Club. The72 hole event will include the top golfers in South Carolina and will certainly be the experience of the year while playing the challenging “Donald Ross” style course that has hosted multiple Championships and eight PGA Tour qualifying events.
Eligibility
Open to male golfers whose 14th birthday is prior to August 3 and who have a handicap index that does not exceed 10.4. Participants MUST BE RESIDENTS of South Carolina and must be members of the SCGA. Any applicant must have been listed on the club’s handicap roster by June 14th. Entry Fees
Qualifying Entry Fee - $135
Successful Qualifier Championship Entry Fee - $75 (automatically charged to players credit card used for Qualifying entry)
Fee includes entry, tournament cart fees, range fees, day one & day three lunch and first tee gift.
Entries
Entries open on April 21 and must be received by 5:00 p.m. on June 14, 2017. A player may play in only one qualifier. Notice of acceptance will be posted on line. If a qualifying location has more players than can be accommodated, some players will be transferred to another location and the date for qualifying may be different than the original requested date. Transfer will be based on the date of receipt of entry application, i.e., entrants filing applications late will be subject to transfer. All transfers are final. No qualifying site is final until after entries close.
Format
USGA rules apply, 18-hole stroke play to determine qualifiers. The number of spots available will be determined by the number of players at each qualifier.
Qualifying Practice Rounds
Players may play ONE PRACTICE ROUND for a fee of $25 - includes range balls and cart rental, if desired.

Qualifying Pairings
Tee times will be at each club and will be available at www.scgolf.org on June 20th.
Refund
A$25.00 administration fee will be charged for all refunds until the day prior to the Qualifying Date. *Successful qualifiers forfeit their $135 entry fee& will receive a $35 refund between the qualifying and July 26th. No refunds the day of the qualifier or after July 26.
Golf Cart, Caddie & Spectator Policies
Golf Carts: Championship site cart fees will be paid by the SCGA. Competitors have the option to either walk or use a cart during the Championship rounds. Carts will be limited to the minimum number need for each group.
Caddie Policy: Caddies are allowed for the Championship and must be provided the player themselves. Caddies will not be available at the host club.
Caddie & Spectator Policy: During the play of a hole, either the player or his caddie may ride in a golf cart but not both at the same time. Spectators are required to walk and may not ride in an "empty seat".
Field
The Field will consist of year 2017 qualifiers and exempt players.
All players must submit an application by the above June 14th deadline. No exceptions or extensions. Entries are subject to approval or rejection at anytime by the SCGA Executive Committee and the host club at their discretion.
Dress Code
The dress code applies to all levels of the Championship. No jeans, cut offs,or shirts without collars allowed. Contestants in violation may be asked to leave the golf course.
