SCGA Amateur Championship – Tournament Information
The Palmetto State’s finest amateur golfers square off in their annual youth-vs.-experience battle in the South Carolina Golf Association’s 86thAnnual Amateur Championship on August 3-6, 2017 at Florence Country Club. The72 hole event will include the top golfers in South Carolina and will certainly be the experience of the year while playing the challenging “Donald Ross” Style course that has hosted multiple Championships and eight PGA Tour qualifying events.
Eligibility
Open to male golfers whose 14th birthday is prior to August 3 and who have a handicap index that does not exceed 10.4. Participants MUST BE RESIDENTS of South Carolina and must be members of the SCGA. Any applicant must have been listed on the club’s handicap roster by June 14th. Entries
Entries open April 21 and must be received by 5:00 p.m. on June 14, 2017.
Entry Fees
Championship Entry Fee - $185
Fee includes entry, tournament cart fees, range fees, day one & day three lunch and first tee gift.
Format
USGA rules apply, 72-hole stroke play to determine Champion. There will be a36-hole cut to the low 70 plus ties.
Refund
A $25.00 administration fee will be charged for all refunds until July 26th. No refunds for any reason after July 26th.
Golf Cart, Caddie & Spectator Policies
Golf Carts: Championship site cart fees will be paid by the SCGA. Competitors have the option to either walk or use a cart during the Championship rounds. Carts will be limited to the minimum number need for each group.
Caddie Policy: Caddies are allowed for the Championship and must be provided the player themselves. Caddies will not be available at the host club.
Caddie & Spectator Policy: During the play of a hole, either the player or his caddie may ride in a golf cart but not both at the same time. Spectators are required to walk and may not ride in an "empty seat".
Field
The Field will consist of year 2017 qualifiers and players exempt under above guidelines entering prior to deadline.
All players must submit an application by the above June 14th deadline. No exceptions or extensions. Entries are subject to approval or rejection at anytime by the SCGA Executive Committee and the host club at their discretion.
Dress Code
The dress code applies to all levels of the Championship. No jeans, cut offs,or shirts without collars allowed. Contestants in violation may be asked to leave the golf course.
Championship Schedule
• July 25 – August 2 - On a space available basis, each participant is allowed One Practice Round for a fee of $30. Call the Florence Golf Shop at (843) 669-3554 to make all reservations.
• August 3 - First Round
• August 4 - Second Round and cut
• August 5 - Third Round - Low 70 plus ties
• August 6 - Final Round and Presentation of awards
